MATHEMATICS, ARCHITECTURE AND ART COLLIDE IN THE WORK OF AMERICAN ARTIST SOL LEWITT AND HUNGARIAN VICTOR VASARELY. THE SIMILARITIES ARE UNDENIABLE - MODULAR FORM, THE SIMPLE OPEN CUBE, AN ESSENTIAL ‘BUILDING BLOCK’ FOR SOME OF THEIR MOST ICONIC CREATIONS. THE STRUCTURES VARY IN SIZE, SHAPE AND MATERIALS, BUT BOTH ARTISTS WERE DEVELOPING THEIR TECHNIQUES DURING THE SAME PERIOD, AND BECAME PIONEERS OF A MODERN, DIGITAL AESTHETIC.
