WHEN SURREALISM BECAME CLOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH STRONG LEFT WING POLITICS, DALI WAS CONSEQUENTLY THROWN OUT OF THE MOVEMENT FOR HIS AMBIGUOUS POLITICAL STANCE. UPON HIS EXPULSION FROM THE GROUP HE FAMOUSLY STATED, “I MYSELF AM SURREALISM” - FROM THEN ON HE CONSIDERED HIMSELF A LIVING EXAMPLE OF HIS PARTICULAR ARTISTIC EXPRESSION, 'INHABITING' HIS ART. DALI 1

DALI DEVELOPED HIS TALENTS IN MANY FORMS OF ART AND DESIGN INCLUDING FILM, ARCHITECTURE, WRITING, SCULPTURE AND HOME DESIGN. IN THE 1930’S DALI BEGAN TO DESIGN ITEMS FOR THE HOME, COLLABORATING WITH FURNITURE DESIGNERS LIKE JEAN-MICHEL FRANK.
